Catherine Anderson is an American writer of historical and contemporary romance novels. Several of her books have reached the top ten on the New York Times bestseller list.
Anderson’s first novel was published in 1988. She has now written thirty books, several of them with titles that reflect her Native American heritage, they include ‘Comanche Moon’ (1991), ‘Cheyenne Amber’ (1994) and Comanche Magic’ (1994).
‘Comanche Moon’ was the first in four books, which make up the ‘Comanche’ series. ‘Comanche Heart’ is being republished in 2009, after two recent novels, ‘Sun Kissed’ (2007) and ‘Morning Bright’ (2008), both reached the top ten on the New York Times list.
Anderson has been nominated, on nine occasions, in the Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice awards and this has led to a career achievement award from them. Her 1998 novel ‘Cherish’ was a Reviewer’s Choice award winner.
It took nearly two years for the author to find a publisher for her first novel and her first four books were written to her Harlequin publisher’s theme, but then Anderson decide to branch out with her own concepts.
A feature of Anderson’s writing is that many of her key characters have a disability to overcome and there are also many tragic episodes in her novels. Animals feature strongly in her work, with many books set on or near, ranches.
Catherine Anderson has maintained a consistent output of nearly two books per year since her first publication and takes around six months to write a novel.
