Chelsea Disabled Football Club
Chelsea Community FC is an official disability club of Chelsea FC. They are currently handling ten football teams, offering football for all disabled groups, both male and female, with ages ranging from 7 years old up. The Football+ and Limbless Association project also offers coaching lessons to several community and school systems in the South East and in London, and organises a national football programme for unfortunate people.
Football+ is an association between the Chelsea FC Football In The Community and Limbless Association, and intends to add local game opportunities for all people with impairments. Moreover, it also aims to establish an economical structure, initiate performance trails to excellence and improve the profile and knowledge of football for individuals with disabilities.
The programme centres on making young adults with learning disabilities or difficulties able to participate in organised coaching and exciting football activities in a secure, caring and pleasing environment designed to maximise the abilities of players. The system offers a brilliant ‘football for all’ social and educational programme supporting colleges and local special schools during and after their school time. It also offers running weekend football entertainment festivals as well as coaching programmes for players interested in improving their health, self-determination, and footballing skills. Additionally, Football+ also operates a summer holiday programme for young player groups in and around the county. The coaches included in the project are FA (first aid) qualified, trained and experienced in handling players with a range of disabilities.
At present, the Football+ runs competitive teams of males for beginners, as well as youth and adult levels together with some new players to represent the international disability teams.
