Name of Character: Durge
First Known Appearance: Star Wars Republic: The New Face of War
Durge was a bounty hunter in the galaxy and was active for almost two thousand years. He was able to survive a number of near-death experiences with the help of his Gen’Dai heritage and improved battle armour. He battled through several wars and gathered a multitude of bounties. Durge acquired a profound distaste for Mandalorians, and even slain their leader. Because of torture and personal tragedy, he became more mentally unstable.
At an early age, Durge was in excellent physical shape, and had a natural aggression of the Gen’Dai species. He started to have a lust for hunting after seeing bounty hunters in action. He later ventured into the galaxy and left his tribe. Durge then met a Mandalorian training master named Jaing, who taught him everything that he needed to know in Mandalorian combat skill and tactics.
Then, at one point, Jaing and Durge were approached by a doctor who offered to improve their bodies and armour suits with advanced cybernetics. They took the doctor’s offer, having fear that they might become obsolete in battle without the enhancements. They journeyed to the scientist’s laboratory on an unknown planet, wherein they were introduced to a woman named Nubyl. She was living with cybernetic enhancements which she needed because of her disability. Both Jaing and Durge were successfully merged with their armour suits, although the scientist met some problems with Durge's Gen'Dai structure, as his body tried to constantly heal itself from the cybernetics.
After they recovered, Jaing and Durge tested their new abilities in a practise match against cyborg Nubyl. While they were fighting, a group of Mandalorians under Ung Kusp sabotaged the laboratory. The doctor commanded Jaing, Durge and Nubyl to kill them as a repay to their debt to him. In the battle, Nubyl and Jaing were injured by a thermal detonator. Durge ran after them to kill the Mandalorian leader, Mandalore. Before he went out of the laboratory, the doctor told to the dying Jaing that the events were his plan to start a war between the Sith and the Mandalorian clans.
During the New Sith Wars, Durge fought for the Sith, combating several Jedi, learning their skills in fighting, and eventually becoming skilled in slaying. In order to escape from the revenge of the Jedi, Durge hid after their defeat at the Seventh Battle of Ruusan. He sustained to hunt, covering his identity under a series of false names and aliases. In 100 BBY, his most significant mission came when he was hired to destroy the then-Mandalore. Even though his assignment was successful, he was captured by the Mandalorians and was tortured. Durge eventually managed to escaped, though it took him nearly a century to recover and regenerate.
